I first met Juan Baraja sometime in 2010 and I immediately knew I wanted to make a project about Lisbon with him. I imagined a book, a visual guide with short texts showing the city where I was feeling so happy. I imagine routes, few words as a companion to his portrait. I imagined a simple and precious object. I imagined editing again as I love: fondly, taking care of the piece I have in hands, with respect for the book as an object and its content.
A few months later I proposed him to became resident artist at myhomeinlisbon per an undefined period of time, with absolute freedom to come whenever he wanted, stay the time he needed and shoot what and how he wanted. There were no limits. On June 27th 2011 Juan started taking photos while I was able to (re)discover “my Lisbon” now shown to me from an external but close perspective, slow, silent. Juan’s pictures of Lisbon are mute but they say everything. There are no tiles or tram, non stunning views, a few cobblestones, no fado, or other music, no jacarandas or chestnut shellers, there’s no river. There’s only Lisbon: without stridency, quiet, spectator.
This collection of pictures LISBOA [SEGUNDA PELE] (Lisbon, second skin), is an edition produced from myhomeinlisbon with lots of love. It is the first of a series of projects with the aim of support the creative work of artists linked to my life, those who once sat around the table of this house. Some of this images were shown at the house at Calçada do Monte in December 2014, just before the renovation of the house started.
Together with Juan I’ve selected 20 images of the more than 80 he took during this residence and we have printed them with archival pigment print in RC paper 190 gr single format of 30×30 and a limited edition of 20 units of each photograph. The price of sale is 300.00 euro (VAT not included), from which an important amount goes directly to Juan, and the rest will be used to produce the pieces and the book we always dream which hopefully will see the light soon.

If you like them or are interested in this collection or if you need any additional information please feel free to write us to info @ micasaenlisboa.com and we’ll be happy to help you.
Obrigada!
